1. Have a quiet room or place
  2. Have lots of privacy.
  3. Light a candle.
  4. Play a tape of nature sounds (birdsongs, waterfalls, oceans, thunderstorms.)
  5. Limit the length of time you write so you don’t get lost or overwhelmed.  
  6. Give yourself permission to quit any time you want to, even if you’re not finished.
  7. Write a focusing statement or a Springboard so you can stay on track.
  8. Have plenty of paper in your notebook.
  9. Warm up with drawing or sketching.
