Getting to Know 6 Things About Missing In Sight

Being bullied, broken, and beaten.

Welcome to the home of Missing In Sight.  We are a mental-health blog that is devoted to reducing the stigma surrounding psychiatric health issues.  We aim to advocate for those who are being discriminated against due to mental issues and to educate others on how life is experienced when one is coping with a mental disorder.

Who We Are

My name is Becca, and I, along with others, run this blog.  I am currently 44 years old (but not a day over 30, ha!), married twenty years, a former teacher, current writer, and nothing less than the best fur-mommy to my precious dog Maybelline.

Missing In Sight cuddles with Maybelline.
There is always time and love to cuddle with my bestie.

What We Deal With

Our current diagnoses are many and varied, but our biggest battle is within ourselves as we cope with dissociative identity disorder.  For a further understanding of what dissociative identity disorder is, I encourage you to take a look at this blog post explaining DID, how we were diagnosed with it, how we deal with it,  and what it means to be diagnosed with such a misunderstood condition.

When We Started Blogging

We started blogging in 2008 using a different platform and mostly to vent our feelings, record our actions, and communicate with our therapist Randy.  It served a purpose at the time.

However, our current objective in blogging is much different.  No longer is blogging an attempt to get our voice heard and our needs met; rather, our goal is to hear your voice and understand your needs so that we might be of comfort and help to you.

Why We Share Such Personal Information

As we mentioned previously, we write so that others know they are not alone.  We are very honest and forthright about what we have struggled with in the past and what we struggle with now. This brings authenticity to our voice and first-hand knowledge of what it is like to experience mental and emotional challenges. We share our lives, experiences, successes, and failures with others, hoping they will understand themselves better and be able to navigate their journey and reach their goals.

In addition, our blog is not monetized, meaning we do not profit monetarily from when you visit.  We keep it non-profit so the focus is on you, not us.

How Often We Write and Post

Our blogging schedule has previously met some challenges. Just as our blog was gaining steam and growing, we suffered a severe loss with the death of our mom in January of 2018.  Grief took away our words and the ideas behind them.

As time has passed and we have been sorting through our grief, the need and desire to write again has mercifully returned.

We are finding our voice again and are scheduling our blog for two posts each week, one always being on Sunday where we always take an amusing look at the past week’s shenanigans and bring them to life and laughter using Gifs.  To be amused, go ahead and look at the post for the week of December 10, 2018.

The other post will always relate to a mental health issue and will be published on Tuesday or Wednesday.
