Never Give Up. Welcome to the first edition of “Silent Sunday.”
Today’s theme is “Never give up.” Instead of writing a long, dry post on recovery or some aspect of mental health, “Silent Sunday” collects memes, quotes, and images centered around a mental health topic, hopefully, to inspire you, motivate you, and comfort you. July 12, 2020’s theme is “Never Give Up”. I hope something in this edition helps you to keep fighting your battles and to never give up.
Most of us masquerade in life with happy faces superimposed on sad eyes. Unfortunately, in our society, that is what we have to do to survive. My hope for you is to find someone who is a kindred spirit, someone with whom you can be yourself. You can always find that person in me. Never give up.
I haven’t met you, but I think I know you. I know the bravery you possess when you go to bed crying, only to wake up the next day with the exact same pain that sang you to sleep. You are doing the hard work, you are trying, and, for that, I am in awe of your strength and resilience. I know it’s not easy; you don’t have to pretend it is. But don’t doubt for a second that we can’t see your hustle.
With me, you are never alone. I will share in your struggle with you. Never give up.
I love Erin Hanson’s poetry. Here, she provides comfort to those who are ashamed of their self-harm but offers an alternative viewpoint as the scars being a tally of times you survived the pain.
We need to learn to validate ourselves, find ourselves worthy just because we’re human, and not let others dictate how we should feel about ourselves. By letting others determine our worth, we make ourselves vulnerable and always dependent on others, which is a perfect storm for giving up.
You have more strength than you know. You are a force to be reckoned with, even on your bad days. Don’t ever give up.
Never give up. You don’t know who is willing to be on your side to help you through this difficult time.
Giving up is weakness, and that’s not you. I know you’ve fought for so long, and it would just be easier to quit. But the only way to succeed is to try just one more time. Never give up.
Giving up = failure. If you have to slow down, it’s okay. But don’t stop. That’s giving up, and I imagine you’ve come too far to allow that to happen.
If you stop before you reach your goal, you will never know what great things you can accomplish. Keep going, and never give up.
It’s rare that someone recovers on the first try. You may have to keep fighting the same battle, day after day, but you are never defeated as long as you never give up.
It’s not too late. You still have a chance. Take a break if needed, but don’t just stop. There’s always something worth fighting for. Never, ever give up.
When fighting for our life, our happiness, and our recovery, we will get bruised, bloody, and battered. That’s not a sign of weakness or failure. It’s a testimony that you showed up for the fight, that you didn’t cower when the odds were stacked against you, and that you carry your scars as trophies to show you did not give up. Let your wounds speak to your ability that when things get tough, you get tougher. Even though you are still in the battle, you haven’t been defeated and you haven’t given up. It’s not over, soldier. Keep fighting. Show others how it’s done.
Remember, there’s always hope, so never give up.
