It happened again! I’ve been nominated for another award for my blog! It is a gross understatement to say that I am truly humbled and genuinely honored to hear that my blog is important to people and that people care enough to nominate me. The support of others is invaluable to my mission to help others and add meaning and value to their lives.
I would like to thank Hilary at www.mudmilkandcoffee.blog for nominating me. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging in 2009 because I found it therapeutic, and I enjoyed writing. I needed a creative outlet to cope with the daily turmoil I was experiencing. I took a hiatus in 2013 because I was in a very, very dark place as is reflected from my writing at the time, and I felt I had nothing more to offer the blogging community. I returned last year in July because I again needed an outlet for my feelings. I had no other purpose in mind except that there was a deep need inside me to write, a need I could not control. Then in September of 2017, I stumbled across a picture that I put into this post, and it made me think about the story I hold inside me. It’s a story of struggle, pain, failure, and recovery, and perhaps someone out there needs to hear it to know they are not alone. So my purpose started to change. I wasn’t just writing for me; I was writing for someone, anyone, and everyone that needed to hear they weren’t alone and that someone cared.

What is your favorite thing to blog about?
I enjoy blogging about mental health, recovery, but I mostly enjoy writing about the struggle. Not that I dwell on the negative, but I find most people identify with the struggle of coping with mental illness. It’s bittersweet, but I feel the struggle is where people need someone to be their voice, to express the storm inside their mind.

How long have you been blogging?
Oopsie. Got ahead of myself. Refer to answer #1.
-
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I read other blogs and books, spend quality time with my dog, and volunteer my time. I know; it’s a glamorous life, but somebody has to live it. 🙂

Do you ever want to get married and have kids?
I never wanted to get married. Always swore I wouldn’t marry until I met Daniel. He was different from any other man I had encountered. We met in April and by August of the same year we were married. There have been many severe struggles in our marriage since we both contend with mental disorders, but we’ve been married 18 years, so we must be doing something right.
As far as children, I have never, ever wanted to have my own. I love children, but with marriage there is never a guarantee it will last forever, and I don’t want to raise children by myself. In addition, everyone in my family, both the paternal and maternal side, have mental issues, and I didn’t want to pass on these defective genes to a child.

What is your favorite kind of coffee or tea?
I’m not so much a tea drinker. My favorite kind of coffee is anything brewed that is not decaf. If you brew it, I’ll drink it. My favorite brand to drink is Don Pablo. It’s rich in flavor and has a medium and smooth body. I limit myself to one cup in the morning, otherwise my anxiety would be even more unmanageable.
-
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Mostly I see myself having published my first book and hopefully writing my second. Whatever and wherever I’ll be, you can be assured I’ll be writing about it.
-
What is your 2018 goal?
My goal is to take some continuing education classes on writing to improve my skills, continue to grow my brand of blogging, and interact more with my readers.
-
Where are you from?
If writing had an accent, you would know I’m from the deep south. Georgia to be exact. I’m a southern peach with a southern twang.

What job do you have currently and what is your dream job?
I currently do not have a regular job. I spend most of my time reading, writing, volunteering, and playing with my dog Maybelline.
My dream job is acting. I have a flare for drama and histrionics, and I usually can tap into my emotions when I want to, so I think I would be a natural at acting.
Thank you to all those who have read my answers.

What a great blog post! I loved the answers you gave to my questions. I think we have so much in common. A couple of things that stood out were not being a good used-car salesman. I wouldn’t make a dime. Also, I share a similarly to your biggest fear. I’m not comparing my dog to your children; no comparison there. But I only have a fur baby, and she means everything to me. My vet always laughs at me because I take her there over every little thing that’s wrong with her. I’m just afraid something bad will happen and I won’t have her anymore. I’ll forgive you (just kidding) for making a math teacher your favorite. I’m a former English teacher, so math and I don’t mix. Lol. I look forward to reading your future blog posts.
Take care.
Becca and her head mates. XX
Congratulations to all?
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
