Hi, Tracee. I hear the frustration and desperation in your words, and I imagine you might feel helpless also. I admire how you’re fighting for him. As to whether he has DID, obviously, I can’t say. I’m assuming when you said “PD” you were referring to a public defender. Is there any possibility you could at least consult an outside lawyer and explain the situation. I don’t know your financial situation, but in many places, there are lawyers who do pro bono work or can receive free legal aid from legal clerks. I would check with the bar association in the state or county where you live to see whom could help you.
One last note, your passion to help him comes through very loud and clear. I wonder if that might be intimidating or overwhelming to those with whom you are dealing, especially if they believe you are a battered woman. It’s just a thought I’m having, but I might make sure I spoke calmly to everyone and try to keep your emotions in check. I know it will be tough, but they will probably be more willing to help you if your words are seasoned with salt.
I don’t know how else I can help you. Keep reaching out. Keep fighting to ensure he receives a fair trial and a proper evaluation. Please keep me updated on what happens. My email address is becca@missinginsight.com. Best wishes to you both.
